A couple months ago I went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My favorite band is The Promise Ring and I wanted to see places from their songs and from Maritime. What I found was the friendliest Americans I’ve encountered, a beautiful lakeside city, and that sauerkraut is actually delicious.
In addition to shopping, eating and getting my hair done at a modern salon, I got to experience north ave under my feet. Drive by e texas ave and feel 21 again. Stand in the Milwaukee Art Museum foyer and see a dream fulfilled.
Shop Acme Records and meet friends of the band at Lion’s Tooth bookstore. Waking up south of north avenue was a dream realized. The promise ring will forever be my favorite band and this was my midwestern pilgrimage.
